The project is part of the Riyadh heat and power cogeneration project of the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). It was put into production in 2014 and the planned capacity was 2x660MW. SEC is the largest power investment company in the Arab region, and its business covering thermal power, hydropower, nuclear power, wind power and many other fields.
